    Apple Rasam Recipe


    Ingredients:
    Dal Water – 2 cups
    Apple – 1, peeled, chopped
    Tomatoes – 2, chopped, ground to a puree
    Lemon Juice – 1 tblsp
    Rasam Powder – 1/2 tblsp
    Asafoetida Powder – 1/4 tsp
    Turmeric Powder – 1/4 tsp
    Salt as per taste
    Black Peppercorns – 1 1/2 tsp
    Cumin Seeds – 2 tsp
    Dry Red Chillies – 2
    Coriander Leaves – few
    Curry Leaves – fw
    Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
    Ghee – 1 tblsp

    Method:
    1. Dry roast the peppercorns, cumin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and grind to a powder.
    2. Mix the tomato puree and dal water in a pan over medium flame.
    3. Fry the apple pieces in ghee. Add to the pan along with 1 cup of water.
    4. Add turmeric powder, rasam powder, asafoetida powder and salt.
    5. Mix well.
    6. Fry the mustard seeds and curry leaves in little oil.
    7. Add to the rasam.
    8. When it starts to powder add the ground powder.
    9. Stir well and simmer for 2 minutes.
    10. Add lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves.
    11. Serve hot.

    Apple and Bean Salad Recipe

    Ingredients:
    Sweetcorn Kernels – 1 cup
    Lettuce Leaves – handful, torn
    Apple – 1, peeled, sliced
    Celery – 2 stalks, sliced
    Butter Beans (Lima Beans) – 200 gms, soaked, rinsed and drained
    Parsley Leaves – few, chopped
    Walnuts – 100 gms
    Mayonnaise as required

    Method:
    1. Heat a non-stick pan over medium flame.
    2. Stir-fry the sweetcorn kernsl for 2 minutes until lightly blackened.
    3. Combine the apple, celery, beans, parsley and sweetcorn in a bowl.
    4. Add 1 tblsp (or as required) mayonnaise and mix well.
    5. Arrange the lettuce leaves on a plate and spoon the salad over.
    6. Garnish with walnuts.
    7. Serve at once.

    Tip: You can also use black beans instead of lima beans.

    Spicy Apple Chips Recipe


    Ingredients:
    Apples – 3
    Sugar – 3 tblsp
    Cinnamon Powder – 1 1/2 tsp
    Salt – 1/3 tsp
    Oil as required

    Method:
    1. Mix the sugar, salt and cinnamon in a bowl.
    2. Slice the apples to 1/4inch thickness and place them on a large plate.
    3. Sprinkle the cinnamon mixture on top and leave them for 2 to 3 minutes.
    4. Heat oil for frying in a non-stick pan.
    5. Fry the apple slices till crisp and golden.
    6. Remove and drain excess oil.
    7. Serve at once.

    Alternate Method:
    Follow steps to 1 to 3 from above.
    4. Transfer the apple slices to a greased baking tray lined with parchment paper.
    5. Place them in a preheated oven at 300F/150C and bake for 30 minutes.
    6. Rotate the tray from time to time so that the apple slices cook evenly.
    7. Remove when the slices curl at the edges and golden, about 10 minutes.
    8. Cool and serve.

    Apple Rava Cake Recipe


    Ingredients:
    Apple – 1 cup, grated
    Rava (Sooji) – 1/2 cup
    Sugar – 3/4 cup
    Ghee as required
    Green Edible Food Colour – a pinch

    Method:
    1. Heat ghee in a pan.
    2. Fry the rava till light golden.
    3. Add sugar, apple and food colour to the pan.
    4. Mix and stir well it does not stick to the fingers.
    5. Pour into a plate and cut into desired shapes.
    6. Allow it to cool and serve.

    Apple Payasam Recipe


    Ingredients:
    Apples – 2 cups, peeled, chopped
    Milk – 1 litre
    Condensed Milk – 200 ml, sweetened (if unsweetened add 1/4 cup of sugar or as desired)
    Almonds – few, sliced
    Butter – 1 tblsp
    Method:
    1. Heat butter in a pan over medium flame.
    2. Add the chopped apples and saute for 30 seconds.
    3. Add the milk and simmer for a few minutes.
    4. Add the condensed milk and gently boil till bubbles start forming.
    5. Remove the pan from the flame.
    6. Garnish with sliced almonds.
    7. Serve.
