Nail fungus is like an annoying relative who lands up one day, takes up all your time and effort, banishes peace and just doesn’t leave. Onychomycosis it is called, if you want the scientific name for this hard-to-get-rid-off virus.
So, how does nail fungus make its way in? The causes are many. Perhaps you’re unlucky to have a predisposition to the condition, like an abnormal skin pH or maybe a weak immune system. Or maybe just bad habits like wearing synthetic socks, terrible foot hygiene, sweaty shoes that don’t let your skin breathe or work that means prolonged exposure to moisture.
Some of these conditions can be reversed. But those that are more difficult means you could have yellow, thick nails accompanied by inflammation and pain for a long, long time.
Is there a reliable nail fungus treatment? There are topical treatments as well oral medicines that you can get at the chemist. But these are, at the end of the day, medicines with side-effects, some of them nasty. Do you really want to go through that?
Why don’t you try some home remedies for nail fungus instead? Your kitchen has half the things you need, and for the rest you can just hop over to your local store.
These all-natural, all-herbal treatments will soon banish toenail fungus for good.
How to Get Rid of Toe Nail Fungus with Natural Ingredients

#1 Baking Soda and Sodium Borate
    Just make the fungus uncomfortable.
    • Using a combination of baking soda and borax creates the most unhospitable environment for the fungus.
    • Make a paste using equal parts of the two powders and apply it to wet feet.
    • Gently coax the paste into the infected nail.
    • For better measure, do this to all nails and not just the infected one.
    • Do this twice a day until the fungus clears, and then for two more weeks, just to be sure.
    #2 Coconut Oil

Nail fungus is stubborn, unbelievably so. But you’ve got spunk, lady. And you’ve got coconut oil.
    • For as many days as it takes, apply a thin layer of the oil to your nail and the surrounding skin.
    • Let it really soak in for 15-20 minutes.
    • Ideally do this before your bath, so you can wash it off with a cleanser like Olay Total Effects 7 in One Foaming Cleanser
    • Before you know it, you’ll be ready to bring out those dainty open-toed slippers.
    #3 Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an excellent mixer for salads, pastas and countless other delicious foods. But did you know that it is a smashing remedy for nail fungus also?
    • Just make a 1:1:6 solution of vinegar, Epsom salts and hot water.
    • Allow the solution to cool down enough to be able to put your feet in without scalding your skin.
    • Indulge in this luxurious soak twice every day for at least half an hour.

    #4 Tea Tree Oil
Yet another favourite of our nail infection home remedies is tea tree oil.
    • Clean the affected area with rubbing alcohol and then gently pour tea tree oil on to the nail.
    • Let it soak in thoroughly for 10-15 minutes, after which you can clean the nail gently with a soft discarded toothbrush.
    • Do this every day until the fungus nail has been pushed out by the new one.
    • Continue the therapy for 2-3 weeks to prevent a recurrence.
You might have given up hope, but with us around, never fear. Try these solutions and believe us, you will soon get your groove back, baby.
