Surnoli (Mangalore Sweet Dosai) Recipe Ingredients: Rice – 2 cups Curd – 1/2 cup, whisked with 1 1/4 cups of water Poha – 3/4 cup, washed and drained Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp Fresh Coconut – 1 cup, grated Jaggery – 1/2 cup, powdered Oil for shallow frying Method: 1. Wash rice well and soak in water for 3 to 4 hours. 2. Drain and grind with a little curd till almost smooth but a little grainy. 3. Add poha, fenugreek seeds, turmeric and coconut. 4. Grind till smooth. 5. Add jaggery and continue to grind to make a smooth, thick batter of pouring consistency, adding more curd if required. 6. Heat a tawa. 7. Pour a ladle of batter and spread it around. 8. Dribble 1 tsp of oil around the edges. 9. Cover and cook for 1 to 2 minutes till base is crisp and golden. 10. Serve hot.
